Automatic Fault Plane Solution for the Provision of Rapid Earthquake Information in South Korea

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) provides detailed hypocenter information after the earthquake early warning (EEW) service, due to increased public interest and for study of fault movements. However, rapid production has limitations, including necessity calculation focal mechanisms, which requires expertise in seismology. Therefore, we developed automatic mechanisms (AFMs) based on time domain moment tensor inversion method. A key feature AFMs is collection reforming waveform data using EEW. Furthermore, propose an additional module iterative by reducing low variance reduction data. This shows value rather than that first inversion. reductions results were between 59 94%, whilst second 79–97%. accuracy was similar manually determined well adapted local earthquakes around Korean Peninsula. KMA provided could then be automatically EEW within approximately 6–8 min subsequently reported.
